The Basic Rider Course. This course is approximately 16 hours of classroom and on-cycle instruction. Basic techniques as well as defensive maneuvers will be taught. We provide the motorcycles for the course. It is designed for the beginner who wants to learn to ride a motorcycle or for the experienced rider who wants to sharpen their riding skills. Since September 2009 this course is required to receive a class M endorsement.
Minimum age for the course is 15 and all students under 25 must have a Class C un-restricted license or a DPS issued learner’s permit. Under age 18 requires parental consent.
Students must attend all class sessions and pass both the written and riding skills tests in order to receive a Certificate of Completion. The certificate, when presented to the DPS licensing office, may allow any person with a Class C unrestricted license to waive the on-cycle road test.
Classes are held just about every weekend.
Class times for the Basic Rider Course are as follows:
Saturday - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sunday - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Ask about our weekday classes! These are on Tuesday/Wednesday during peak season and the class times for the weekday classes are the same as the weekend classes.
